The .co domain is the official top-level domain (TLD) of Colombia, and its registration is available to any individual, company, or organization. This type of domain is very popular for both business and personal use, making it an excellent choice for websites or businesses targeting the Colombian market.

There are no specific restrictions for registering .co domains. Domains can be registered for a minimum period of 1 year and up to a maximum of 5 years, subject to prior evaluation upon email request. The domain name must be between 3 and 63 characters. ASCII characters from various languages are allowed, including Spanish, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, French, German, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, and Russian. In case of disputes, the ICANN Dispute Resolution Policy applies.

For .co domain transfers, providing the transfer code and the associated nameservers is mandatory. The domain must have been registered for at least 60 days, and the transfer process can take up to 5 days to complete.

Renewals are possible if the domain is within its renewal period and are carried out for 1 year, or up to 4 years upon email request for evaluation. The renewal period begins 35 days before the expiration date, and it is recommended to renew before expiration to avoid interruptions in the services associated with the domain.

Regarding technical updates, changing the domain holder may take up to 24 hours to be fully completed.

In the event of expiration, it is possible to recover a .co domain up to 30 days after the expiration date through a restore process, which has an associated cost. After restoration, there is a restricted 5-day period during which domain renewal is not possible.
