The .de domain is the official top-level domain (TLD) of Germany, and its registration is available to any individual, company, or organization. This TLD is very popular for both business and personal use, making it an excellent choice for websites or businesses targeting the German market.
To register a .de domain, any natural or legal person may do so. The domain name must be between 1 and 63 characters and must be pre-configured on a hosting service before registration. In case of disputes, the DENIC regulation applies.
Regarding transfers, providing the transfer code is mandatory, and the associated nameservers must be specified.
Renewals are possible if the domain is within its renewal period and are carried out for 1 year. This period begins 5 days before the domain’s expiration date, and it is recommended to renew before this date to avoid domain suspension.
For technical updates, changes to nameservers may take up to 24 hours to be fully completed.
In the event of expiration, a .de domain can be recovered up to 30 days after the expiration date through a restore process, which has an associated cost and may take up to 2 days to complete.
